I NEED HELP! Missing course content on Udemy

Hi, I bought your “Unreal Engine 5 C++ Game Development (Fully Updated in 5.6)” course through Udemy a few months ago, and it’s been fine so far, except that the worst I feared just became true today. When I bought your course it only had Sam’s content so like a month in or so, I don’t really remember how much, but I noticed that you added the same content with another instructor as an updated version. But since I had already started with Sam’s content, I decided to finish all of his content, and then if I felt like it I would check out the updated versions some other time. At the time, I thought as a joke, what if they just delete all of the old version’s content someday, but I just laughed at that thought. And now all of a sudden I find out that it has become real :sob: . All of Sam’s content for the course is just gone, and I was already on the last section, and halfway or a little over halfway through it. It’s so frustrating to see all of my progress vanished, and that the course is there as if I never even started it. Can you please bring the content back? Because I’d be so disappointed if it’s never going to, and it’d definitely make me stay away from your courses from now on. Please help, thank you.

Hi,

Gamedev tv has a policy of updating the main courses. The content from Sam is really out of date and is increasingly difficult to support. Normally we move the content to an archive course but unfortunately Udemy no longer allows us to do this. I am not sure what the process is but as the TA of the course is it is becoming increasingly difficult to support it.

We normally give students 3 months before this happens and this has been almost 5 months now to enable students to complete the original content.

I will see what the plan is for the old content and will update you.

Here’s the follow on update. The content is available through this website. There should be a note at the end of the course with a link to the old course and some information. You have to register for the courses section of the website, which BTW, gives a superior interface to the course IMO.

The only gotcha is progress doesn’t transfer but you can click on the check boxes to mark lectures you’ve done. Everything else is exactly the same and there.

I guess the other thing is there is limited support for the archive courses. They are really only for those wanting to refer back to the old course.

We cannot add the content back to Udemy. We were getting negative reviews because of the aging of this content and given it has been since end ofJuly 2025 we started rolling out the replacement content, it is genuinely time for it to be retired. We even renamed simple shooter to Shooter Sam to honour Sam as the past instructor.

I hope you understand. The new content isn’t quite the same as the old either. Different approaches were taken and utilise newer unreal features too such as enhanced input.

Thank you very much for your reply, and for clarifying the situation! I understand, I don’t have a problem with that, it’s very unfortunate that Udemy removed the archive courses thing, I didn’t know it even existed since it’s my second course I bought and studied in that page. I think that the only negative things about this whole ordeal is that I didn’t receive a heads up or a warning that the content was going to be removed, since without them, I and I bet a lot of people, just assume that it’s going to stay there forever, so it was pretty stunning to see it vanished.
Also the Q&A’s really helped in some of the lectures because of incompatibility issues and some other problems with Unreal, but now I see that they obviously didn’t transfer into your site, so that’s a bummer.
Just as a friendly thought no sarcasm or anything malicious intended, I think that you should really give a heads up before removing content from the courses to your paying customers, because I can see how some would react very negatively and just throw it all away out of anger or something like that.
Anyways, thanks for the reply, I have no problems now, and I will be sure to leave a good review when I’m done with this course, since it has been an amazing help and it’s very well done. Thanks for the help!
