First of all, this is my first ever completed character with all, the maps, the rigging, the textures, the retopo etc. and i had some issues at some points, so i want to ask.
The cloth part (doesn’t have cloth physic) keeps turning inside out with the leg movements and i need help on how to fix it so it will be ok with animations.
I wanted to make a mouth and also rig the eyes but for the mouth i didn’t know how to do it and for the eye rig, the rigs for the eye which i added manually disappeared after i hit rigify, i don’t know if i had to do something additional but… yeah i’m open for advices.
Also it’s so hard to make places where skin is on another skin or really close, how can i manage that?
I tried to make this model low-poly but it became more like a mid-poly because other way the details were lost, what should i do for that? What’s the best way of doing retopology?
I see that blender is bad at baking and texturing, i want to use substance painter but i need some guidance, are there any courses for that by gamedev.tv or does anyone know some people who makes substance tutorials which are similar to gamedev.tv?
I also have really hard times making the hair in blender as well as rigs, what’s the best thing to do at this state? Because rigging is too complex, even with just the simple rig, and i want to make muscle rigs too in the future. And for hair, i struggle a lot both because of my computer and because of the controls of blender, how can i make stylish hairs in different styles?
Basically it is all about adding bones and controlling them.
But the use of shape keys is also a solution, but not so flexible as bones. But good facial armature is a lot of hard work. You should experiment with shape keys as a starter
It all depends on how you use the Orc model.
Far away, low poly. Facial close up high poly. So it depends on it usage. To finish the animation challenge, keep the low poly for faster renders.
Learn the process then repeat the lessons you’ve learned and improve your skills and future models.
Also here it depends on it usage. And as a Blender beginner it has no use to create a Orc fully rigged in all it’s details. Because it takes experience!
Use the rig to create some poses you want to use in a still image
With animations, you can add a pose to the time line (Keyframe) and let Blender trans form it in to an other pose. That will give you the standard way of animation. And have many bones will complicate this. So start with a simple armature, just to learn the process.
I had a similar issue with the cloth, where its surface went below the surface of the body when moving the legs. I could solve that by weight painting, so that some parts of the cloth would move along with the legs, and others not (especially in the area near the belt). Maybe this could help in your case as well.
i had a problem with the rigs connected to eyes especially because after rigify there were no controls to move the eye. can it be that i did something wrong for that i wonder. i will be watching tutorials for that spesifically. thank you so much for all of your answers btw!
thank you! i tried experimenting with the weight painting but seems like i dont fully understand how that works yet and i failed to make it better :’) i will be trying more
