How to set the reference point when scaling objects?

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how can I scale objects without moving the origin like Mike did on Lecture “33. Using The Array Modifier” minute 7:40 when he scaled the pyramid in the Z axis so the pyramid grew only upwards instead upwards and downwards?

When scaling you can hit the plane that you want to change.

For example, if you just want to scale an object UP you would hit S (scale) and then select the Z (Z axis) key. This will only allow the object to scale up and down regardless of how you’re viewing the part.
