How to name a valid Unity Asset product title correctly before publishing?

Hi,

After reading the “Unity Asset Submission Guidelines”, I am unclear about how the Unity Assets product title can be named properly.

For example, how to name the product title with the word “Matrix” in Unity Asset publishing ?

I saw the asset “The Matrix Falling Text UI” is listed under Unity Asset Store and specifically mentioned the asset is “This UI simulate the falling text in the movies of the matrix!”.

I want to understand better how the word “Matrix” can be used as part of the Unity Asset product title before submission without legal, copyright and trademark violation ?

Alternatively, I have put the same question to Unity forum HERE.

Please advise.

Hi Ricky,

Unfortunately, I do not know anything about Unity’s guidelines in this respect. Does your question refer to a specific course? If so, I’d like to assign a tag to your thread, so people with more knowledge will be able to find your questions.

Generally, we cannot give you any legal advice. If you have got any legal questions, the best would be to get an official answer by Unity and/or to consult a lawyer.

HI Nina,

Thanks for feedback, the Unity moderator did replied me on the forum link shared above.

Just to clarify, does the Talk section opens for general discussion or limited to Gamedev.tv related unity course contents only ?

If all discussions in this forum are merely for Gamedev.tv related courses including the Talk section then I will exclude none relevant questions in the future.

This is the “Ask” section. We mainly use it to answer questions regarding the content of our courses here. You may also ask questions regarding game development with Unity and C# here. There are also quite a few students here who enjoy helping with (minor) problems that are outside the scope of our courses.

While asking legal questions is not “not permitted”, I usually prefer to warn people because it is easy to make a mistake and lose a lot of money. If “RandomAccount123” gives you their (legal) advice, you can never be sure that their advice is reliable. And “RandomAccount123” does not even have to be a troll to give you a wrong answer.

If you want to discuss something, the “Talk” section is better.
