I want to ask that how much time should I put in ,as I personally think I am putting a lot of time and not getting a proper output according to time.
And I also want to ask about age as I want to become a indie game developer and I am currently 18 years can I learn all the basics that I need to build game playable and publishable by 21.
Difficult question(s). First of all, practise and practise. Do many small projects. Show your work to get feedback. Learn 3D concepts. Learn tools. Learn programming languages.
Just start with a simple game, like tetris. Learn project management. Learn how to publish games, etc.
So the real questions is, what do you like to do? Yeah, building a game … do you have an idea. Did you write some user stories for development … so much to do and learn. Start small, step for step.
Have fun

Great ambition, And only today I saw the below article on the BBC website.
A lot of home truths there. Quoted just a few.
He reckons there are about 1,200 entry-level positions available each year but about 15,000 to 20,000 students graduating from video game specific degrees.
“There’s a large pool of people looking for a small number of jobs. What makes people stand out is their portfolio, rather than their degree. And, I say that as an educator.”
He advises those who have caught the gaming bug to take the traditional route and specialise at university but also acknowledges there is room for alternative paths
Unless you are a genius or flat very lucky, the reality probably is it is tough to get into via a full University, years of education, and artistic talent to make a great portfolio. The alternative route is much much longer and will require a dedication, and most of your waking work free time gaining the skills and proficiency in at least one area. If you are looking to do it in a casual way not spending your idea of a lot of time on it, my very personal view is it will be hard and near impossible for it to be a full time job throughout life.
I am old over 60 it is a hobby. You will learn and retain faster and better than me being young. However I spend 6 or so hours a day probably almost every day on it and am not very good, especially so the full range of animating, procedural nodes, sculpting, whole areas. Do you imagine that as a ‘lot of time’?
