I’d be interested to hear, in my VM it took about 3000 seconds.
That’s 50mins for us normal people.
Took 58 min on an old Xeon E3-1230 v3 with 32 GB of RAM and the source on a WD Blue 7200 RPM HDD. Bare metal not a VM. UE4Editor opens and runs fine. Gotta love that glorious Vulkan. Just wish shaders didn’t take forever to compile(the only reason I don’t use Vulkan in the windows editor).
On my machine it took 69 minutes. Here are the specs:
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
Kernel Version: 5.0.5-1-MANJARO
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory: 7,7 GiB
Project browser opened fine, but is still compiling shaders. 3147 to go…OMG
Hello ! im not sure if this is the place to ask, but i encountered this error and i have no idea how to solve it. I searched the web but i couldn’t find any solutions. thanks in advance!!
Probably not. I would start a new thread/topic. That said, we would need to see the actual error not just what linker item failed. From the length of time already passed, are you out of disk space or have enough memory? What is your setup?
i don’t know how to start a new thread or topic
not sure if i have to make space or this is how it should look
To be honest, I don’t really know how to read that chart thing. I think it says your only using about half the available disk. Run df
for a simpler read out. I don’t know if that is enough RAM. I think the recommended amount is 8 GB. If your swap is at least 4 GB, it will probably still work. Also, I wouldn’t compile such a large project on a laptop. If you can find the error or upload your compile log to pastebin or something I’m sure someone can help you more.
well i pushed my laptop a bit too far i guess .
thank you for your help!!

1,5 hours, Deepin 15.10, FX 6300 8gb ram.
On my work machine a mac pro 3,1 had to build it on ubuntu and it took 78 minutes using dual xeon E5462 and 10Gb of ram
I got This error after Successful Compilation

Linux Mint 19.1
Searched all kinds of forums but not found any solutions yet…
Time took was about 2.5hrs
Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa

This laptop is about 5 years old now, so obviously the build time took a long time too.
My build clocked in at: 14430.58 seconds, which Wolfram Alpha tells me is 4 hours, 30.6 seconds.
UE4 ran fine under Windows 10 except that load times could be pretty long. Hoping it runs more smoothly under Mint/XFCE.
Mohammad, I had the same problem. I searched around and found this solution:
When you run UE4, add the opengl4 flag:
./UE4Editor -opengl4
I’m running on a rather underpowered 1st gen GPD Pocket Running System76s cool PopOS! Ubuntu variant. (Insane form factor and battery life)
I’m not surprised at all - This is an adventure.
Total execution time: 18371.83 seconds
or 5 hrs 6 mins…
