Fairly easy thing to do, also Alt-H and H toggles them
Cool. Keep in mind it can also be used for specific geometry inside edit mode. Being able to get some verts out the way to do precision surgery on your other vert groups is an absolute necessary thing later on.

Sounds very useful in a big chaotic mess of a mesh! Also useful to ease up the thinking for my slow computer
