[Help] Need advice about Projectiles

Hello all,

I know that is a weird sounding question, but, I wasn’t terribly thrilled about the shooting system as it was shown in the lecture. From the outset of the lecture I had it in mind to have a firing system where you either pushed a button for a single-shot or had a “burst” firing system system where you shoot a number of projectiles with a slight pause between each and then had a cool down period. I just find that more game-like.

Now, this is where the advice bit comes in, say I were to implement that sort of firing mechanism - I have some of it done at the moment (single shot and continuous with a pause between each one) so getting close - would this type of firing cause problems with the rest of the game or lectures?

I need to know so I don’t put too much effort into the above only to run into problems I can’t handle later in the course.

Thankyou and Regards,
Vaughan.

It very much depends on how you’ve implemented it. Going off piste is a very good way to learn, but it also makes it harder to help you later if you hit a wall.

My advice to my son (who is doing LaserDefender at the moment) is to build it “vanilla” on the first run through to make sure it works and the course content stays on track, then modify/expand it on a Git branch afterwards.
