Help! Cloth sim with subdivision

I’m trying to do a cloth sim for a table cloth and it works in the viewport, but in the render the cloth looks cubed. If I disable the subdivision modifier it looks as intended. What did I do wrong? I didnt bake the sim because I dont know how but it seems to work find without the subdiv. Any pointers?

I haven’t worked much with simulations, but I think I know what’s happening. The cloth simulation can only see the subdivision level set in the viewport and the subdivision modifier can’t see the cloth simulation at all.

Maybe applying the subdivision modifier or moving it below the cloth one would fix it.

I was watching something only last night that said always have the subdiv after the cloth.

Agreed, I ended up putting the subdivision after and it just worked better. It did end up rounding out a little bit and clipping the lower object through the cloth though. I ended up just running the sim, finding where I liked the look the most, and converting that to a mesh to keep all of the points where I wanted them.
