There is an easier way to select the edge that you would like as a seem if you are selecting them in a straight line. I do this in vertex mode. Choose your first vert then ctrl and left click on the last vert and your done, this will select all of the in between verts. It will also work in face select mode and edge mode. Seems good to me.
