I had fun with the knife tool once I figured it out. Randomize helped make it look even better.

Yes takes a bit of getting used to the knife tool, but is very good when you have.

I’m on a MacBook and clicking on the Knife icon would not apply the marks. Staying on the select tool, clicking on a vertex and then pressing K got me the results. I may have made too many, but it was fun.
I am using Blender 2.81a. There is probably an update since I installed this version.

Nicely done. There’s an addon (paid) that popped on my timeline this week. It does this exact same thing OCD (One Click Damage) Blender 2.92+ add-on
Oh that looks nice, though I’m not feeling fully familiar with, nor comfortable with, 2.93 . . . yet.
