What hardware are you guys using to run Blender? I am using my Surface Pro and the few renders I did took forever to load. I don’t really have a background with computers other than using them for school assignments. Just trying to learn new things and become a little more tech-savvy. And I’m starting to think I may need a more powerful computer if I’m going to get serious about this animation stuff lol.
If you going to get serious about 3D and especially animating, you would need Desktop computer, something with i7 processor and GTX 1070 graphics, something like that. Laptop is just not gonna cut it.
You can jump to lecture 99 and 100 (check out 95 and 96 too) they are explaining the topic. You can run some tests with section 5 assets (there is a scene to test your rendering time)
Comparing times for that scene:
1 minute - best graphic cards.
2-3 minutes - good.
4-5 minutes. You’re okay for now.
5-10. Your hardware is bad.
10+ you are doomed.
gonna have to agree with sam on this one steve, If you are planning to do any real work with the program you’re gonna need a top end computer. I won’t say it has to be a desktop but I will say that a tablet/2-in-1 isn’t gonna work. You’ll need at least another Ghz of processing power over what you have and at least twice as much ram. You will also want a dedicated Graphics Card (equivalent to a GTX 1060 or better).
Yeah… I was at 20 minutes and it still wasn’t done rendering lol. I’m going to start looking into getting a desktop to do all the major work.
