I actually used a variety of hair lengths for each part of the body. It ranges from 0.05 to 0.5. The amount of hair varies as well, but for the amount of hairs’ children displayed I fixed a value of 50 for all parts of the model.
I’d say the trick here is to make a good use of the Comb tool in the Particle Edit mode. I took around 30 minutes to 1 hour just brushing its hair and correcting minor details.
