Where you got that node called “make transparent”? dos the mikes procedures didn’t work for you as well? what version of blender are you using?

The node make transparent came from a combination of nodes.

Select the three nodes in the center and then create a new node and name it what you want to.

Select the three nodes using shift, then use menu, Node->Create Group or CTRL+G
