I’m a complete noob and trying to download class resources from gitlab. Not sure if I’m supposed to know how to do that already. Trying to download and follow along.

It looks to me like you’re trying to download the source for a specific lecture? If so, that really long hash code ecf773db42a525bcecf03bdba4da162afa2864d9 is a bookmark to a specific version. In your case, you have posted a link to a readme for that version. The entire source tree starts here.
If you want that specific snapshot of the code, follow that link and then under the blue code button, you’ll find an option to download it as a zip. You should learn git so you can clone the repo locally, but that’s a bigger discussion.
