Geometry Node grass system

Hi everyone,

I continued with the geometry node course after a longer break and had a real blast once again. I like how the grass looks quite juicy, a bit like it’s wet.

After walking outside and looking at some real patches of grass around me, I wanted to add some of the weeds one often sees in combination with the grass. I also used geometry nodes to create them, leaning on some references to get the looks right. Instead of the grass system that works with placing instances from a collection, I chose to build these weeds based on an input curve, where the stem and the stuff that grows out adjusts to the curvature. Then I placed a couple of these weeds manually and intentionally by hand.

This second weed used these grains, that I also created with geometry nodes. It’s based on an arc segment, which I resampled and placed straight lines on the vertices with a profile curve with a moon shape. This way one can adjust the spread angle and density. The outer ones I just selectively scaled up, it took a little while to figure that out but was rewarding when I finally got it. These overlaps at the bottom are luckily not noticable from afar.

Maybe some flowers would be nice to add and would also introduce a bit more color.
