Game window always on top issue

I moved my game window out but it always stays on top, even when selecting items in my scene view etc, I can’t find an option to disable that. Anyone know how to disable the always on top ?
Thanks

I recall in the early part of this course it being mentioned that you can use the CTRL + 1 or CTRL + 2 hotkeys to switch between windows, note it’s the CMD key on a Mac instead of CTRL.

I personally never found this worked on a PC setup, although I believe other students on Macs did. Possibly corrected in a newer version of Unity.

Another approach might be to split your workspace so that you have both the Scene view and Game view on display at the same time.

even when switching windows the game one will always stay on top for some weird reason, but I attached it back (default layout) and toggled the maximize on play option, works well enough that way.

I found the same. Out of interest, which version of Unity are you using?

Hi,

Just tested this in 2017 and it doesn’t really work as you would expect either, at least on a PC.

If you have both Scene and Game view tabs visible, the hotkeys will switch focus between the two tabs. It will do this if you have a split layout with both views on display at the same time, although the focus shift is considerable less obvious.

If you separate the Game view from its tab, then the focus does shift between the two views, but the Game view still sits in the way over the top.

I recall looking for a solution for this ages ago and found something someone had written as an editor plugin but it seemed far to excess for something which should just work but I have managed quite happily without this functionality.

Fairly confident this works on a Mac if you have cash to spare

haha, no thanks, no Apple stuff for me, I’ll deal with what I got :stuck_out_tongue:
