.game domain names

Have any of you guys considered buying a .game domain name? If so, what price would you expect to pay for a year?

I’m asking because a company is offering to give a “discount” to our students, and I want to ensure that you want it, and that it’s a good deal.

Thanks

Ben

I’m not sure I would personally use a .game TLD, but I did just check 123-reg.co.uk who I’ve used numerous times in the passed, 2 years is £520 - thus there is no way I would bother… think the most I’ve ever paid in the past was about £30 for a .net address… thats about £24 for 2 years now…

In comparison, having a .gameS domain is only £39.98 for 2 years, so I’d probably get creative and use the cheaper option…

I’m with Rob on this one.

I rarely pay more than about 10USD for a .com, theres no way I’d pay more for a .game address.

What costs/discounts were being discussed @ben? For example, if it was £10- £20 then thats not nad, but more than that, not sure.

A thought that crossed my mind, and this probably isnt something you’d want to do… but potentially if you had a branded one and then offered sub-domains with a CMS for page hosting you could offer another service to your students… another steo may be to act as a publisher for the games? Just thinking out loud… could prove as useful testimonials/testomonials, along with a revenue stream and advertising for the courses…

I usually use GoDaddy for my domains. They are cheap for the first year, then they jack the price for year 2. I would love to find a cheaper alternative

Was it Uk2Net that used to so that horrible thing where you’d get the domain but your web soace was in their iFrame… they charged you extra to get rid of it… shocking…

The costs would still be more than £200 for a domain, so I’ll tell them to forget it. Thanks guys

Thereay be others willing to pay that, but being that a lot of the students via Udemy look for the bargains I think you’d have to be extremely committed to pay that much for a domain name.

Shame…

Now, branded rubber ducks, mouse pads, cups, polo shirts, t-shirts… different matter
