Game dev documents and software to help us all get further in dev

I was searching around for software and hardware for a while and finally! FOUND what I was looking for. These are the things I use for my game planning and concept, as well as keeping track of things I have to do. They are all free of cause too! just give credit to each if/where possible.

First off, we have Concept! now when you make a game you need an emissive planning stages for big and small games. I’ve linked down below under this paragraph a link to Unity Forums, where a post from “HeadClot88” gives us a link to a GDD (Game Development Document) I suggest you copy and paste this into MS Office or make a google doc for you to use as a template or save as MS office template, so you can start fresh with all your new ideas.

Linked in there is his document.

FreeMind
Ever wanted to create your ideas on a mapping of sorts, Freemind is the open source mind mapping I’ve found that is easy to use (like blender once you know the shortcuts. It’s mostly entre/INS “insert” key for new bubbles, if you want to close tabs click on the tab and then press, CTRL-W. Pretty simple.)

This software is free, and can export as either HTML, PNG, JPEG, PDF and its really cool that it can also save as SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics.) witch then can be imported into another software and used. (if you want to use it in MS Office you’ll have to export it as a “emf.” file to use it in word. Keep in mind you have to have java installed to run this

Inkscape If you are going to sell your game, and you are a creative type person? why not make your own company logo, professionally. SVG file types are not like PNG images they can scale up or down without looking pixelly. Look up “SVG file type” on your web browser and find out more about it. As I said above, Inkscape can also save your SVG files as emf for use in word or MS office software.

That’s all for now Hope any of this information was use full.
