So I tried to make a mimic that throws fire bombs out of its mouth. I don’t think the bomb reads very well though. Anyone have suggestions to improve it?

I tried to give the mimic a big pink tongue with a bomb on the tip of it; and a bit of fire flaring out the side of its mouth. The bomb has a round body with a fuse burning on the top of it.
I tried to improve it a bit more after posting it, but it’s still quite hard to read it.
What do you think could improve it?

I had a very hard time trying to figure out what was the first mimic, I had to read what it was to make sense of it, the second is more readable, but I think what threw me off in both cases was the fire, perhaps removing the fire could help.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried to use your advice to make the sprite more readable.
It’s lost a lot of the fire element theme, but I think it’s much for readable now! What do you think of it this time FedPete and Yee?

It’s more readable now, but I’m not sure if it looks better… That’s the difficult part of making art, Isn’t it?

Haha yup it’s 100% difficult.
I was going for an unsettling vibe with membrane looking cheeks and a long tongue.
I think I need to take a break from this one and try again when I’m fresh. Thanks for the feedback Yee!
