It’s a nice head, though there’s maybe too direct light and it shows a bit “flat”. Have you tried to change angles and intensities a bit? Maybe you can try with more different light sources to see if you can get more contrast .
If you look at your reference image, there’s very little light coming from the right side compared with the left side. Have you tried that?
Very well made. Perhaps as suggested some slightly more dramatic lighting like the reference image?
Thanks for the recommendations. I was spending so much time with the sculpting and painting + learning to use a pen instead of the Mouse, that I was not focusing much the lighting
Will definitely try to make the lighting more dramatic.
It is also fascinating in what rabbit holes you geht into wehen searching for hair/eye modeling and shading in blender
But it is really a lot of fun, and thanks to @Grant_Abbitt and his awesome courses which are not “Just follow what I do” turorials but teaching the fundamental tools on practical examples
It’s a good looking model which gives the character a unique look. The hair colour is an interesting choice, along with the red eyes. I like the details like the asymmetric marks and scars.
The render is let down a little by the lighting. Detail is lost and it looks flat, especially along the cheeks. Introduce some shadow to help show the detail a little more.
I did another round on the lighting and also modified the hair a bit/ Here is my final result that I am quite happy with:
For me, this looks much better. I like the shadowed detail. Good work.
