Finish anime character

So wanted to share this anime character I made. I did the anime course twice. First I did the female character that Greg showed us and then I did it again this time making my own character. Made the textures in substance painter. I think he turn out well. If any feedback on what I could keep in mind for next time, let me know. Just was tricky for me getting those lights and render right

Welcome back, why the delay?

Have fun!

Very nice.
I just wonder if the body of the hands is a bit long?

Congrats on doing the course twice! I also think he turned out great. The texture work is also great
I’m a little confused about the hair though, it’s unusual.

I think GDTV inadvertently mass brainwashed several students worldwide into believing that Western Stylized Characters look the same as Eastern Anime Characters.

Please ask the team to update the course or rename to Stylized Character Course, there’s barely any resemblance to the Japanese Style :sob:

I been working all the time. Just haven’t posted it here.

Hands are VERY TRICKY. lol. I got feedback on that just was hard to do for them . Tried to shorten them down but still messed them up at times. .Plus it a mistake I made ALOT lol. Just got to keep working on that. Glad it turned out well.

Was trying to go with the hairstyle I did on the drawing.

Nice character. I wouldn’t get too stressed about proportions.

There is anatomy and artistic tradition to use as a guide if you want to reduce your anxiety through increasing your knowledge and understanding. . see Body proportions - Wikipedia for instance. You may get away with longer hands if his feet were longer as well?

Anime characters have their own style.

In the Vitruvian standard “the distance from the elbow to the tip of the hand is a quarter of the height of a man” see Artistic canons of body proportions - Wikipedia

a modern standard File:Andrew Loomis, Figure Drawing for All It's Worth.pdf - Wikipedia

PS. I think Grant Abbitt has a character drawing tutorial on gameDev.tv. The advantage with drawing is you can create your own reference images to open in the scene.
