Feeling stuck

Hi everyone!

I went through most of Blender Beginner course and have been working on small projects regularly for 2 months. I know where to look for information and learn on my own. I also have a good idea of which areas I want to focus on for now, namely modeling and animation. However, I don’t really have big end goals and am struggling to come up with ideas for my projects. Finding small and achievable ones. One thing I was thinking of trying is to start an intermediate course, more specialised, but I worry about getting to the same point.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this?

Thank you in advance.

A good way to have goals and a purpose for ideas is to do the weekly ‘collab’.

They are small or as big as you want to make them but with a time limit.

I suggest you atleast think about what your trying to accomplish with the modeling and animation in the long run, then structure your projects while small but specific to improve what will help your end goal. Example: lets say you eventually want to make animated shorts or films that involve fighting for example. Your projects dont have to be a film but maybe do a model and rig and do a short fight animation, or maybe your final goal has alot of story or talking. Then do the same thing but focus on nailing emotions and facial movements, im sure you get the jist basically you need an end goal and everything you do until you get there should be structured so that once your there you can nail it. Good luck

Very happy with the suggestions, I’ll give them a go!!

I think my main problem is finding smaller projects that can be done relatively quickly. I tend to think about projects that should probably be the end goals, taking me days to complete (if at all), so I quickly lose motivation.

The Blender collab is the way to go.

For animations, you need a lot of “material”.
Objects, figures, rigged figures, textures, a story.
Everything takes time.

Just take small steps, learn how to model quickly. Knowing Blender hotkey and functions.
Do many small projects, and increase difficulty.
Don’t think I make this object or project excellent.
Because when knowledge grows you are better capable to see how it needs to be done, to fill your project needs. Inexperience makes bad decisions in the long run. If you do complex projects, like animation.

So, for the current Blender collab, you have still two days to make something scary.
Look for scary picture on the web and think how can I do that in two days.
Saterday a new subject is given, then you will have the full 7 days to work on.
