Ah! After watching Sam struggle with the text scaling on one of the lectures that follow (Health Bar UI) I can now see why text mesh pro was created. Sam calls out text mesh pro as an option but then says “I don’t want to complicate things more than they need to be.”
Text mesh pro (TMP) has a tiny bit of up simple front extra effort but saves so many issues with complex tweaking that Sam encounters a few lectures down. In my experience Text Mesh Pro reduces complexity not adds complexity.
