As I was being more particular while progressing, I didn’t have much to do to smooth out the head. That is until I pulled out two rows of faces to move the pole down one row. I left it they way it was done in the video for consistancy, but I think I would have added a loop cut to make the quads half the size again. It will be under the hair and shading smooth covers a lot of sins, so I guess it will work out this way as well.
