I’ve just been going through the shortcuts list provided with Section 1 and I have a couple of extra tricks to share in case people haven’t discovered them for themselves. They don’t seem to be on the Blender Nation short-cut poster either, but I might not be reading it correctly.
Not only can you use the middle wheel of the mouse to zoom in and out in 3D View windows, but holding down shift allows you to shift the view straight up and down, and holding down control allows you to move the view left and right. Works in 2.78 for Windoze, not sure about other platforms.
