Engine not compiling after changing to vs code

I’m on section 3, lecture 44 on the lecture ‘Unreal Engine 5 C++ : Code Your Own Unreal Games’, using the must recent UE 5.4.4
I changed the main source code to visual studio code and the engine refuses to start, and I get messages as below

And when I build in the VS Code, I get an error that says

Can you pinpoint me what to do to continue on this UE journey? Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the community.
Did you happen to install the latest tools as they don’t work with Unreal engine. You need to install the UE 14.38 tools. The screenshot below shows everything you need to install to get C++ to build. I’ve tested this recently and used Rider (Note, Rider is a superior code editor to VS Code so would recommend it and it is now free for personal use) as the code editor but it should work just as well with VS Code and the same requirements are needed for Visual Studio as well.
Check you have all this installed and try again.
