Edge detect experimentations - concave edges

The main thing I don’t like about the bevel method (unless I’m doing something wrong…) is that it will also mask concave edges, wich does’nt make sense for edge wear.

But, by esperimenting a bit with dot product (first time ever I hear about that node, thanks about that !), I’ve found a way to remove the concave edges from the mask :


Still experimenting with that node, I’ve find a way to combine the pointiness data with the bevel so that the mask works both on soft edges and hard edges. This method seems to fix some of the problem about the lack of contrast ? :



In all cases…I gotta experiment more with that !!

Nice work. Edge detection in Blender is still a bit janky. I think it really needs to look at the Curvature baking in Substance and implement that method.
