Dragon Manual Retopology

I figured Id follow the recommendations and see what some others think about my dragon so far! This is actually my second time doing this course, but I posted nothing the first time through. This time around I did the retopology manually, which took longer than expected, but I think I can be happy with the result. The pictures are the original HP mesh (left), and the low poly mesh(right). Down from about 685k faces to 15k. The other two pictures are my retopology job.

Doing it a second time gives you more freedom.
You know what’s coming because you know the procure.
So you can get into the details at the right moment.
And you train your memory how to do things.

Great efford.

Looks amazing. Nice work on the retopology. I agree with FedPete. Doing it a second time is much more fun and exciting.

Well done doing hand retopology.
Always better.

Just a few things you need to understand about quads and flow.

Avoid ngons. Non quad faces, wherever possible.

Oooh thanks for the picture! I remember seeing something like this before, but I couldn’t find it again. Thanks for the advice!

Great shot at retopology. Adding on what @NP5 said, here’s a video too if you’d like some more visual aid. Certainly helps me watching someone else do it first sometimes. Change Your Understanding of Topology In Six Minutes - YouTube
