I’m getting very diffrent information to this. Does it make sense to download 2.8 or better stick to 2.79.
more correct question, since I am a total beginner. Is it worth waiting for the course to be adapted to 2.8 (especially since the user interface seems to be totally different as I read)? Or can I continue with this course as is?

I suspect you’ll get several different responses, but I’ve been using Blender for a long time, through several different versions, and I’m planning on finishing this course (at some point) using 2.79.
Version 2.8 is still in Beta, so even though folks are downloading it to play with, from what I understand, the first official stable release won’t be available until next month.
That said, I really can’t say which would be the better one for you to download. I’m just not someone who will play with Beta software unless, of course, I happen to be on the software’s beta team. I personally prefer to wait for a stable version before downloading.
