Don't create git repository?

my thing in Visual Studio looks like this

is it safe to assume that source control is some kind of similar ability to setup a git? or do i have to do some more setup within VS in order to have the option to create a git? just curious cuz my screen looked different.

Mine looks exactly the same, hoping someone comes and clarifies

What version of VS are you using? Mine says Create new git repository" instead. So I assume it would in your case?

Here is my screenshot, not sure if I have missed something. But, definitely VS2015 Community

Forgot I had the git extension installed, if you run the VS installer and go to Other Tools you should be able to install the git extensions.

I suppose I forgot to add that I’m on update 3 and not update 1 like the
video suggests, I didn’t see an option for update 1 but I figure update 3
would include those features. I assumed it was change in the way it was
worded, and I found this online, it seems to confirm my suspicions…

Edit: link to vs FAQ added

Yes, definitely have the git extension installed.

Excellent, thank you Havi
