Domed Tower Lesson and Newer Versions of Blender

I discovered that in the newer version of blender that “Merge” is not where one would suspect:

  1. Go to “Mesh” rather than “Vertex” and you should find “Merge” here.
  2. “Merge” shortcut key is different: “M” rather than “ALT+M”

Or in edit mode, select vertices involved.
The right mouse click to open the context-sensitive menu.
Choose ‘Merge vertices’.

Yes, try to search here on the ask, talk or show forums. Students will ask most of the time the same questions.

Students favourite questions:

  • Why is the render noisy (Cycles).
  • What happened with “Merge by distance”.
  • Problems with light.
  • Problems because students forgot to apply Scale
  • Camera clipping, because the object scale is too big for default Blender settings.
