Do not use Instagram!

Hello fellow students and GDTV Colleagues.
I’ve been slowly trying to build my online identity by posting mainly on Youtube, Artstation, Itch and Instagram.

Now imagine wasting countless hours building your portfolio and networking just to get your profile deleted without warning.
After posting more than 30 finished projects since 2021, Instagram simply deleted my profile for nor reason at all, no e-mail, nothing. 2FA enabled and all.

Researching a little more, I found out Instagram has been banning a lot of users without prior warning.
If for any reason Instagram is popular among your peers, colleagues and potential clients, be careful to not waste your time building a profile that might get banned for no reason and with no warning.

Happened to my food and travel instagram in 2017. Had like 20k followers and was in the middle of a 5 figure travel / food exploration across the globe. Mega sucked.

Instagram never replied to any support email I ever sent them. Just gone and never seen again. Was very frustrating for a looooong time. Still a sore subject when people I know bring it up, they are like man how did that food and travel business go? Looked like you were really on the way! - Ouch!

I hope you have better luck than I did.

After it was gone, I never had the motivation to restart.
