So, without parenthesis you have to use PEMDAS. With that said, the result is 9
9 - 3 / 1/3 +1 = 9
Why? The highest priority here is the division and since there are 2 in a row, you divide 3 by 1/3 which is 1. This cancels the other one and that’s that.

Thank you for your question. I think you should have a closer look at what the outcome of 3 divided by 1/3 is. Because that is not 1. Can you figure out what 3/(1/3) is?

Not quite. 3 / 1/3 is the same as 3/1 / 1/3. Using the KFC method - keep, flip, change that becomes 3/1 * 3/1 = 9/1. Therefore, 9 - 9 + 1= 1
