I had a chuckle at the dialogue (pun intended) over the proper spelling of dialogue/dialog. 
OK it’s simple
British English
- always use dialogue
American English
- dialogue if you’re referring to conversation
- dialog if you’re referring to a dialog box (like a small window on a computer screen)
In either case it’s ALWAYS dialogue if you’re referring to a conversation, which we are here.
