using unreal engine 4, details pane goes gray occasionally, and doesn’t allow me to edit any of it, on top of that, i can’t change the skeletal mesh for my wraith character, mesh is not present, infact it says no meshes are available to put on the skeletal mesh at all
You’re running the game. click stop on the toolbar. You can’t edit when it is running.
That would be because you don’t have any in your project. I am assuming you’ve created a blank project and not included the starter content. This would therefore not have any meshes as default.
i actually do have one in my project, i am doing the simpleshooter tutorial on Udemy, and downloaded the correct assetpacks
Well, I can only comment on this from the point of view of nothing showing. What should be showing here is a list of available Skeletal Meshes but without seeing the project, I am unable to provide you with more information.
When you extracted the 3 archives for the project, did you combine the 3 folders?
i have done that
So, Let’s be clear, in the content browser you can see the skeletal meshes - there should be 5. Use the filters to show just skeletal meshes (This is UE4.26 so may look a little different)
Then the shooter character, the filter should indeed be showing the skeletal meshes as well.
I had to re-add the wraith character to this project to have it appear, something i wanted to note, is that i had to download this wraith character from the market place, and it didn’t come from his asset pack, despite having combined the asset packs as intended.
Yeah, it isn’t supposed to be there as far as I know. I’ll check that for you later on.
Ok, I have a set of the unextracted zip files and the Wraith is indeed included. The only conclusion I can draw here is that the extracted files were not combined correctly. The Paragon Wraith is in part 3 of the zip package.
that’s very odd, because i did exactly what he asked of me during that part of the tutorial, they were in the file directory, but they didn’t show up in the engine itself
Can you show me the directory structure? Last time I saw this kind of thing the archives extracted incorrectly. The work around was to manually combine the folders after unzipping.
