Here is my board scene with the Black King in being mated by the White Queen.

After viewing the rest of the lecture, I felt that looking at my King, the cross on top was out of focus. So, I re-aligned my camera and did another render which I think has the whole King in focus now.

While zoomed in, seeing board details and a very nice blur.
I miss a bit of normal-, bump-map on the wooden frame … It will enhance the wood details.
Yes, I don’t think it looks real without that.
