Great look-a-like.
Thumbnailing is for generation quick ideas.
But when you want to create a final piece, then if you had fun, time doesn’t matter.
But on the job, it depends. Effort vs time. So it depends.

yes its up to you in terms of how much you are enjoying it. Its more about taking a moment to understand the techniques and then moving to the next bit
