i followed exactly what was shown in the lecture but then when i tried to set up the bezier curve against the pin , it only shows the vertices (the dots) but not the sections (black lines) and especially the handles.
please help !

You don’t need the ‘black’ lines. They are switched off, with an option in the ‘n’ panel.
The black lines are called normals, which on most occasions you don’t need.
That’s why it’s switch off in newer versions of Blender, which is confusing people again.
Those lines are called normals lines.
For some unknown reason, recent versions of Blender have them turned off as the default.
In Edit mode. You can turn them on in the overlays dropdown top right of 3d view window.
Tick the box shown.
