Cursor is selecting vertex or edge when close and click

Hi there,

Looking for a quick answer. I’m doing the Blender Texture Painting course. For some reason, my cursor will select any close edge or vertex when in edit mode and I click. I can’t window select. Probably a simple fix?

Please give full screenshots with any questions. With the relevant panels open.
This can be done by Blender itself, via the ‘Window’ menu bar top left-hand side.
On that menu dropdown is ‘save screenshot’.

Do you have the selection tool selected? If you’re using some other tool then press B for box select or press W to switch to selection tool. Note: W is special menu if you’re using right click select.

Might be you are using the T left hand side toolbar?

Hold the button down to get the options to pop out and reselect Box select.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up deleting the part I was modeling when this happened, closed Blender and reopened it. Was fine then. Cheers
