So, first, I didn’t have the Shading tab that Mikey has in the lecture. What I have is this:. Don’t think I’ll use MatCaps for this scene anyways, but just wondering if I have them, whatever they are.
In any case, here’s my Shade Flat option.

Need to be in solid mode for MatCaps to show in that drop down.

is just a tool to visualize quickly how your object / texture will work in a environment.
It’s not part of the render. Until you configure so.
