I have real problems because a lot of my ideas get blocked by other people. I have managed to finish a fair number of technical projects in my time that worked and are quite complex. I have also run out of steam on others.
I often get stuck when it comes to convincing other people that I have a great idea, even when I have tried to deliver a finished solution before them. I have had two such projects that got kiboshed in this manner. The most distressing one was when I spent two years developing software at the request of my NHS manger on my own time, only for his boss to decided that they did not want to use my program because it would surely tax the NHS computers.
I have also learnt to ignore the laughter from the sceptics who seem to abound in every corner of British society.
I envy the optimism and open mindedness that is to be found in other cultures towards new ideas.
I kind of realise though it might be my fault as I am not good at self promotion and possibly lack the charisma required to convince others to work with me.
