Work smarter, not harder
Well done, not the sort of thing shown till much later in the course. Very nicely fitted, flowing.
Currently working on the well, I used arrays again for the slats and tiles then applied the mod to allow for variation in the tiles. I still want to move the tiles about a bit and will do once the base is finished.
I found a reference image of an old well with a wheel so i added that before moving to the lighting and rendering part of the course.
Not completely happy with the lighting but its time to move on to something fresh.
Do you have other 3d experience?
You are using arrays and such way before the course goes into them. That is fine and you are getting great results. Just bear in mind the course is trying to introduce you to ways to work with Blender in a gradual way. Its not about making the items, more the different ways of making things in Blender starting in the simplest ways, which are often not the most refined or ideal compared to the more advanced tools.
wow! cool xxx jess
I have some 3D experience but not much with Blender, I have just been spending hours trying things out or looking for tools I expect to be there. I got carried away with the well scene a bit. Had a play with the shader nodes but it was very hit and miss. I have plenty of time to spare at the moment so experimentation was always likely. lol.
The next section of the course will be more important to me as it goes into how Blender does mesh creation from scratch. Looking forward to starting on that tomorrow, though I still have the final challenge to do.
Bowling Pins and Ball. Used that wonderful Array modifier again to arrange the pins. This is an Eevee render but with heavily modified settings after hours of previous experimentation and research.
It is an excellent Eevee render.
Good research.
Fine smashing!

I spent about 10 hours working on this… I wanted to do something different, I learnt a lot and used the array mod (again) and used the crease edges as described in a previous lecture. I don’t know how to use Booleans in Blender so that is next.
Looks perfect to me.
it really did take me hours… I kept messing up but I got there in the end
XD
Love this concept. Very unique approach.
Now that is a very unique look for a chess board. I’m liking it too, though I’m not sure how I would be able to “slide” a piece from one position to another. I guess I’d just have to learn to lift them up, and place them down, each time.
