Colored bowling pin

No creativity yet, I’m just following the reference image still … I suppose at some point, the reference should just be used to set the bigger lines after which artistic freedom can take over, but for now I just wanted to challenge myself to make it as accurate as possible (just colouring seemed a bit too easy). So what I did was (see 2nd picture):

  • I took the two closest face loops and coloured these in red
  • For the top stripe, it seemed to me that the upper and lower edge rings were along a relatively straight line along the silhouette, so I just moved them up and down respectively. This I did using GG instead of G (which restricts the movement along the “supporting edges” of the loop)
  • For the bottom stripe, I did not want to do this, because it is in the neck of the pin, and if I moved the edge around, it would mess with the actual curve of the silhouette, so I just inserted another vertex ring (this does not change the geometry) and I coloured the additional ring in the stripe-material as well.
