Codename 'Argon': Air Assault

Here’s my version of ‘Argon Assault’

I created the bridges, towers, explosions, shield effects (using a texture from the asset store).

The music, trees, ships, textures, and sound clips are from the asset store.

In addition to everything I leaned from the class, this project was a great testbed to try out all the skills I want to use later in a future game:

  • Realistic explosions
  • Objects ‘breaking apart’
  • UI
  • Pause Menu
  • Hit effects
  • Shields
  • Audio integration and audio settings
  • Managing assets

While the ‘rail shooter’ isn’t my thing, I think the timeline skills will come in handy for cutscenes and game intros.

Congratulations on your game

This is extremely impressive. It makes me want to finish my experience, even though I share your feelings about rail-shooters. The only improvement I could think of, given the format, would be to add firing SFX for your lasers. Good job.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree… the laser sounds are the one piece I missed. I’ve taken a bit of a detour between courses and I’m trying to lean blender. Then I hope to move to the next section in the game dev course with some better 3D models.

It’s actually better to start with a game you’re a little less ‘invested’ in because it doesn’t feel as bad when you make mistakes.

Here’s where I am in the blender course:
