Cinemachine has changed now that it is easier to customize where you camera is following. You can change this under Body - Follow Offset. Mess with the x, y, and z until you are happy with the distance.

i was scratching my head with this one as soon as i put the virtual cam on follow player it just went under the ground i did your trick and its great now
