Chess Set Renders

Have been really bad about uploading. Have really enjoyed making the set. I used different reference models to make it. Overall, Over all I think it came out pretty alright. Defiantly struggled with the knight.

Also, made a quick showcase clip. There is some weird shadow stuff going in it. I tried rendering in Cycles, but it looked terrible.

Still have a lot to learn.

Welcome to this site.

A fine chess set with an interesting texture on the pieces.

Even got the depth of field lesson in here.

Eevee is a fast render-er and to be fast it does some things like, don’t render object which you can not see.
This causes artifacts at the border of the scene. In a video clip, this effect is very strong. Because you see the moments where it switched things off (out of view, not casting shadows).

Cycles does the real thing, it traces a light source back into the camera. Calculation reflection, light bounce, etc. For this it uses samples. The more samplse the better the details, less noise (grainy dots).

There are some tricks in Eevee to solve your problem. In Cycles increase samples and activate the denoiser option.
