Changing the layer of an object to enemy makes it invisible

Well this is odd. When I change the layer of a cube I added to the scene to enemy it makes it invisible. When I move the layer back to default it reappears.

It is not invisible when I click play in the game window.

Is the enemy layer selected/ticked under the Layers button/menu on the Toolbar?

why yes it is checked in the drop down and when I switch it to default in the drop down it pops back in to view. I had this problem in another course and assumed it was my videocard not playing nicely with unity although I do let unsolved problems eat at me

Hi,

Hmmm, interesting.

If you have time for a quick test…

Create a new project within Unity, add your cube, create your enemy layer, set the cube to this layer.

Do you experience the same issue?

Assuming so, can you zip the project up and share it with me here so I can take a look? Also, which version of Unity are you using?

I’m using UNity 2017.3.1f1 and when I created a new project and a new enemy layer it did not disappear and I’d like to add that things in the enemy layer of the original project also did not disappear until that lecture.

Hi Veronica,

I’m really sorry, I lost sight of this topic and haven’t replied until now.

Did you make any progress with this issue or is it still a problem?
