Capital Defence

Here’s my progress so far, following this course.

I’ve made a few changes:

  • added lights to indicate that a tile is placeable when mouse is over it
  • displays a “not enough money” message when trying to place something you cannot afford
  • added mines that can be placed on the road and explode when driven over by enemy
  • Left Shift to toggle between turrets and mines (don’t do this 5 times for risk of activating Sticky Keys! - I’ll probably change the key for this soon)
  • Game assets roughly knocked up in Blender

Hope you enjoy and I welcome any feedback!

Dude this is awesome! I really liked how you did the mines and the balancing you did to make them useful. Really nice job!

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, as they relied on the enemies taking the fixed path, the mines broke once the new pathfinding system was implemented. In all honesty, I could have probably gone through and reimplemented them another way, but it seemed like a lot of work for a project that I was going to move on from shortly.

I wasn’t overly happy with the final game I had made for this project, so didn’t post a finished one this time round. I’m trying to put a lot more love into the Zombie Runner one though!

Understandable. I’ll be sure to check out the zombie runner!

Nice game I liked the option of turrets and mines and the assets are cool.
