I cant seem to figure out why, but my loops cant be selected alone, it always selects both overlapping loops even tho I can see it makes more edges when I place the loops they seem to merge in some weird way and I can split and slide them apart to make the parallels lines.
I have no idea what was going on, but I started a new blender file and it went away, was I in some kind of weird selection mode?
nevermind figured it out, it was proportional size selection.
